French Broad River

Testimonials

FRENCH BROAD RIVER WHITE WATER RAFTING NEAR ASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA We had a lot of fun with Blue Heron at the french broad river. They are very nice people - I am shure we will do it again. All the best from Austria.    Check out their video.

adventure treks.jpgWe work with dozens of rafting outfitters throughout North America and have found Blue Heron to be among the very best.  Their guides are of the highest caliber with mad paddling skills.  More importantly, they go out of their way to insure that guests have an incredible experience on the River. Blue Heron's attention to detail, professionalism and customer service is among the best we have ever seen.  Blue Heron is far and away the best outfitter on the French Broad and quite possibly in the entire Southeast Region.

I wanted to thank you guys for providing us an awesome rafting experience on
the French Broad River. 'Wags' was a perfect guide and it was so much fun to raft along with him . We were all ears to his funny stories and the best part was he tried to remember all our names! The surprisingly sunny weather during fall added on with the gracious hospitality offered by all the folks at Blue Heron made our day. Also, hats off to Ciro for capturing the best moments in the best possible way. I would totally recommend Blue Heron to my friends who are planning a trip to NC.

Thanks for everything,

Matt and air paddles with blue star Posted by: Tom Rosenberg, Director, Blue Star Camps on Friday, September 26, 2008

Blue Star Camps is proud to have teamed up with Blue Heron Whitewater to provided our 9-11 year old campers with a high quality rafting experience on the French Broad River. We have worked with Sandy, Fritz and Ciro for many many years when they were over at NOC and when they established Blue Heron it was easy to see that they had built the most experienced team of guides on the French Broad if not on all the rivers in WNC. Over 500 of our campers enjoyed Blue Heron's excellent rafting adventures in 2008 and we hope to make it an annual tradition! Experience, training and attention to detail matter most when selecting a rafting outfitter for your family or group. Blue Heron is tops in every way and we are very proud to partner with them.

There are rafting companies and there are rafting companies. The French
Broad River is one of our greatest assets in Madison County, a very special
county full of tales and folklore not to mention undisturbed vistas and
infamous mountain folk. There is no better view than from the French
Broad and no better insight to be gained than through the eyes of one of
Blue Heron's knowledgeable guides. Personally, for my gHGLivingRoom-sm.jpg uest I only want
a local guide that can open up this magic and maneuver each and every rapid with personal knowledge.

Our trip last Spring to check out this new company was exactly what I wanted. Sandy guided us through with such amazing knowledge and heart whether she was speaking of the sport of rafting or the flora and fauna of our beautiful county. This is the experience owed to all of my guests willing to spend a glorious day on our magnificent river.

I wanted to let you know we had a GREAT time on our raft trip last
Saturday!  Josh did a great job guiding us, and of course Sandy was so
knowledgeable and accommodating for us during our time on the river. I'd
imagine it would be hard to find someone with more knowledge, expertise
and professionalism as she possesses!  Your communication and logistics
coordinating for us was also excellent and much appreciated.  I don't
think things could have gone any more smoothly.  It really was the
perfect day, and my friends Greg and Greg agree there probably isn't a
better rafting experience out there than the one we experienced with
Blue Heron!

It felt like coming back to see good friends with this being my second
trip with you all.  I will certainly pass along your name to anyone I
can, and look forward to visiting again myself sometime in the
not-to-distant future.

Sincerely,

Matt Tice

Sandy and Kim,

On behalf of the gentlemen (I use that term loosely :-) ) from this
past Saturday's French Broad rafting excursion, I would like to take
this opportunity to thank you both for an incredible day of fun.  As a
group of old college friends displaced from one another, our weekend
bottom_of_pit_stop.jpgadventures continue to be some of the most important of the year and
cannot tell you how much we appreciate Blue Heron providing us with
everything we could have asked for and more: a gracious staff, an
exhilarating run on the river –including almost being ejected from the
boat on Frank Bells, a relaxed atmosphere, and a great day of
camaraderie.  The expression on our faces from the pictures says it
all.
As the only North Carolinian of the bunch, I will certainly pass along
your information to friends here in Charlotte!

All the Best,

Cliff

"My wife and daughter and I spent an incredible Mother's Day in the company
of Blue Heron Whitewater's rafting team and had a wonderful time!  Of course
the weather and landscape did its part as we gazed at Carolina blue skies
and Appalachian Spring greens on the hills above the chocolate brown
mothers_day.jpgfast-moving waters of the French Broad.  From the moment we arrived at their
headquarters we were treated warmly and all of our questions and concerns
were answered in a straight up manner.  Our guide Sandy's knowledge of the
river in all of its aspects was awesome.  She made us feel like a well oiled
team as she guided our little raft through rapids and falls and her
continuous educational rap concerning the geological, historical and natural
history aspects of our trip greatly enhanced our enjoyment of the day.  I
highly recommend Blue Heron to anyone that wants to have a memorable trip on
the French Broad."
